Extremely heavy rain hit Chiba Prefecture Japan, causing severe flooding on roads and in homes across the region.
Tragically, 5 people died in the storm, including a passenger trapped in a submerged taxi. Local authorities report that 1 person remains missing, while dozens of homes suffered water damage. Public transportation came to a sudden halt, leaving thousands of commuters stranded overnight.
Japan’s Self-Defense Forces were dispatched to help transport these stranded people to safe shelters.
