A former mayor in Ito City, Shizuoka, named Maki Takubo, is accused of making a fake university diploma.
She is charged with creating and using a false document. After she was elected in May last year, city staff asked her to show her graduation certificate. Soon after, she ordered stamps of a university president and others from a company.
Police think she used these stamps to make the fake diploma.
