On September 17, a male junior high school student was arrested in Iwate Prefecture after spraying bear repellent on the school grounds during lunch break.
The spray affected 13 students between the ages of 13 and 15, causing them to suffer from eye and throat pain. 11 of these students were quickly taken to local hospitals for medical treatment. Fortunately, all of the affected students suffered only minor injuries, and their lives are not in danger.
Police officers arrived at the scene quickly and are currently investigating why the boy sprayed the repellent.

スプレーの影響で、13歳から15歳までの生徒13人が目や喉の痛みを訴えました。このうち11人が、治療のために急いで地元の病院へ搬送されました。幸い、被害に遭った生徒は全員軽傷で、命に別状はありません。
警察は現場にすぐ駆けつけ、男子生徒がなぜスプレーを噴射したのか、詳しい経緯を調べています。

Accidents and incidents caused by the improper use of tools have always happened, but bear repellent is a problem we need to face right now.
As a side note, when I think of junior high school students in Iwate, I remember the recent incident involving students being banned from a supermarket. I hope the prefecture takes action quickly so that these incidents do not leave a negative impression of the area.
