Futa, a famous male red panda at Chiba Zoological Park, turned 23 years old on July 5. This age is equal to over 100 years in human years. He became popular across Japan around 2005 for standing straight on his hind legs.
A zookeeper said they hope to celebrate Futa’s next birthday together, as he is close to the country’s oldest record of 24.
千葉市動物公園で人気のオスのレッサーパンダ「風太」が、7月5日に23歳の誕生日を迎えました。
この年齢は、人間では100歳以上にあたります。風太は2005年ごろ、後ろ足でまっすぐ立つ姿で日本中の人気者になりました。
国内最高齢の24歳という記録まであと少しとなる中、飼育員は「来年もまた一緒に誕生日をお祝いしたい」と話しました。
